About the Product
Megger’s 5kV, 10kV and 15kV DC insulation test equipment sets the industry standard for insulation resistance testing. Designed for diagnostic testing and maintenance of high-voltage electrical equipment, these rugged, portable devices deliver unmatched performance, safety and reliability for OEMs, industrial companies, electrical contractors and utility providers.
Whether for routine maintenance or advanced diagnostics in the most demanding applications, Megger insulation test equipment delivers the accuracy and reliability needed to make confident decisions and manage assets effectively.
Essential Series: Reliable Performance for Routine Testing
The Essential Series consists of a single instrument, the MIT515. This 5 kV device can perform all the most commonly used tests: standard insulation resistance measurement, dielectric absorption (DAR) and polarization index (PI). The Essential device does not have a built-in data storage memory. It has a maximum burn/charge current of 3 mA. It is ideal for simple “Go/No-Go” tests, but is not limited to that.
"Advanced" range: a versatile solution for complete diagnostics
The "Advanced" range includes three devices: MIT525 (5 kV), MIT1025 (10 kV) and MIT1525 (15 kV). The only difference between these devices is their maximum test voltage. In addition to the tests provided by the Essential device, they provide dielectric discharge (DD), step voltage (SV), ramp voltage and, when used with PowerDB software, polarization/depolarization (PDC) tests. They have a large on-board data storage memory and can transfer test results to PowerDB and CertSuite Asset via a wired USB connection. Their maximum burn/charge current is 3 mA. The Advanced devices are the ideal choice for users who require greater versatility than that provided by the Essential product, but do not require the specific performance of the Expert range.
PI PredictorTM Time Saver
All Megger 5kV, 10kV and 15kV insulation resistance meters incorporate Megger’s unique and patented PI PredictorTM technology. With this method, an IP test lasting a minimum of ten minutes can now be completed in five minutes or less, saving considerable time, particularly when PI tests need to be performed separately on three phases.
High Performance Guard Terminals
Many insulation resistance meters feature guard terminals to minimise the effects of surface leakage. However, incorrectly installed guard terminals can reduce measurement accuracy. The guard terminals on all Megger 5kV, 10kV and 15kV meters are not prone to this problem, ensuring accurate results even with significant surface leakage.
Which insulation test equipment is right for me?
First, determine the types of testing you need to perform. If you are performing routine ‘go/no-go’ tests and do not need to store data, an Essential meter will likely be a cost-effective choice. Consider an Advanced meter for added versatility and/or internal data storage. If you are working in extremely noisy environments, or require high load/burn currents, an Expert meter will be ideal. After choosing from the Essential, Advanced or Expert ranges, select the device that will provide the maximum test voltage required.
