Description

The Model 408's case tapers to a 1 x 1-inch base for better access in confined spaces. A removable top knob allows for easy handheld operation or mounting on a test bench.

The Model 408 Type A Durometer is designed to measure ASTM D2240 Type A hardness. This standard applies to materials such as rubber, elastomers, and other rubberized materials, such as neoprene, silicone, vinyl, and butyl. Soft plastics, felt, leather, and similar materials are generally included in this range. The PTC® Model 408 meets or exceeds current ASTM D2240 specifications. Accurate measurements can be obtained in all positions.

The instrument features a non-glare aluminum dial with bold, easy-to-read numbers. The durometer comes standard with a Max Hold needle, which holds the maximum reading. The housing tapers to a 1" x 1" base for better access in confined spaces. A removable top knob (8-32 threads) allows for easy handheld operation or mounting on test benches or a 1 kg deadweight.

These hardness testers can be used with a test stand, a handheld unit, or the constant-load model 441.
